Consultation Services with JL Stermer

JL Stermer is now offering one-on-one consultations for writers on the path to achieving their publishing goals. One-hour sessions take place on zoom for real-time feedback on book projects as well as advice on how to maximize traction with agents, editors, and more.

10+ years of New York agenting experience in the publishing industry, along with the success of multiple New York Times Best Sellers allow JL to be objective and honest when it comes to your work. All levels welcome for both fiction and non-fiction projects.

Here’s what you can expect to discuss:

Who are you? What are you working on?
What are your goals for this book?
What are your goals as an author?

Creative Process:
How to hone your ideas
How to figure out where your book fits in the current market

Business Process:
Finding and working with an agent
The roads to getting published
(commercial trade publishing, self-publishing and more)

The goal is to have a focused and personalized conversation to assess where you're currently at and how to get to the next level of your writing career.

Matt C.

I was feeling so overwhelmed by the process of finding an agent and figuring out how to navigate the publishing industry. My session with JL cleared up any confusion. I came away with a solid plan and a renewed sense of momentum!

Layla O.

Talking with JL really helped me hone in on the parts of my book proposal that were working well, I was able edit it down and I'm so much happier with it now. I needed a professional eye to make sure I was on the right track. JL is very honest while also being kind and I really appreciated that.

Corey B.

Since the pandemic, I have been working on a bunch of different book projects and I wanted some constructive feedback. JL helped me figure out where to focus my energy and how to maximize my time.

Please note: this is not a manuscript critique or editing service. This service is separate from Next Level Lit agency services and is not intended to curate agency clients. If for any reason Next Level Lit decides to work with an author in an agent/author capacity, any fees for a consultation will be returned.
