Joshua Charow

Joshua Charow is a documentary filmmaker and photographer based in NYC. At 15, Joshua would escape his suburban New Jersey town into NYC to climb skyscrapers and walk the subway tunnels to photograph beautiful, hidden locations. These experiences informed his style of shooting, unafraid of jumping into the unknown with a camera in hand.

His first feature film as director of photography, Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, is an official selection of the 2022 Tribeca International Film Festival and rose to #5 in US Movies on Amazon Prime Video. Recently, he was the director of photography on the Hulu docuseries RapCaviar: Presents, which explores larger issues of artistry, culture, perception, and media through profiles of prominent hip-hop artists including Tyler The Creator, Roddy Rich, Coi Leray, and more.

Joshua has shot other notable documentaries such as The Pool Cleaner for TIME Magazine and Our Town: The Young Asian Americans Fighting for the Future of Manhattan’s Chinatown for the New York Times.

Joshua’s commercial work includes clients such as Canon, Microsoft, Gucci, New York Fashion Week, Old Navy, Reebok, Red Bull, Universal Music Group, Omega, and V Magazine.
