David Farley
David Farley is the author of Underground Worlds: A Guide to Spectacular Subterranean Places, published by Blackdog & Leventhal, and An Irreverent Curiosity: In Search of the Church's Strangest Relic in Italy's Oddest Town, published by Avery, which was made into a documentary by the National Geographic Channel.
He also writes regularly about food, travel, and culture for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Food & Wine, Newsweek, and Travel + Leisure, among other publications. His essays have been anthologized multiple times, including twice in the annual Best American Travel Writing series.
Farley grew up in Los Angeles and has lived in San Francisco, Prague, Rome, and Berlin and now resides in New York City.
